Yes. Helmets are required for both the driver and passenger at all times while operating a moped. This is a town ordinance, and failure to comply may result in a minimum $85 fine.
Yes. Rhode Island State Law requires both drivers and passengers to wear eye protection while riding a moped. Sunglasses or eyeglasses are acceptable.
No. For safety and comfort reasons, pregnant guests are not permitted to ride mopeds or bicycles. Please ask about discounted car rental options.
Children may only ride as passengers if they can safely reach the footrests. The average minimum height is 42 inches, though this varies by moped model and the child’s proportions. Infants and toddlers are not permitted.
Mopeds may carry a maximum of two passengers—one driver and one passenger.
No. Mopeds may not be operated between 8:00 PM (or dark) and 8:30 AM, and they are not allowed on dirt roads.
Helmets are strongly recommended for all riders and mandatory for children under 16, per Rhode Island State Law.
Rental vehicles may not be driven off-road, on beaches, or on private roads. Due to road conditions, Coast Guard Road, West Beach Road, and Snake Hole Road are off-limits to all rental vehicles.
No. Four-wheel drive has been disconnected on all rental jeeps. Off-roading may result in towing fees starting at $350.
Only authorized drivers listed on the rental agreement may operate any rental vehicle. Drivers must carry a valid driver’s license and comply with all town and state laws.
