Yes. DOT-certified moped helmets and bicycle helmets are included free with every rental. Helmets are mandatory for moped drivers and passengers and required by Rhode Island law for riders under 16.
Helmets are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own helmet for the best personal fit. Eye protection is required on mopeds—sunglasses or eyeglasses are acceptable. Limited loaner sunglasses are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Yes. All moped drivers must carry a valid driver’s license at all times while operating the moped.
Yes. Children must be able to safely reach the footrests. The average minimum height is 42 inches, though this may vary by moped model and the child’s proportions. Infants and toddlers are not permitted on mopeds.
No. For safety and comfort reasons, pregnant guests may not ride mopeds or bicycles. Please ask about discounted car rental options so you can still explore Block Island comfortably.
Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended for safety and comfort, though they are not mandatory.
No. Mopeds may not be operated between 8:00 PM (or dark) and 8:30 AM, and they are not allowed on dirt roads.
Yes. Every rider must complete a Participant Agreement, Release & Assumption of Risk Form. One form is required per person, including passengers. Completing it in advance helps save time at check-in.
Plan for daytime riding only, stick to main roads, and review the island map ahead of time. Block Island is small but scenic—planning ahead helps ensure a smooth, stress-free experience.
